BIRCHWOOD Half-Marathon

Race Rules

  • Run in accordance with the rules and regulations of ASA & CGA.
  • Proof of age to be produced on request. Numerical age tages to be worn visibly on the front & back to qualify for prizes.
  • 21.1km runners must be 16 years & older on the race day.
  • 10km runners must be 15 years & older on the race day.
  • No seconding allowed as there are ample water points. Water points will be added every 2.5km to 3km of the race.
  • Registered athletes must be a member of a club affiliated with ASA and wear club colours.
  • Temporary licenced athletes must wear plain clothes.
  • The 2018 provincial licence numbers must be worn on the back and front of the vest and the issued temporary licence number on the back of the vest.
  • The official Birchwood race number must be worn throughout the race on the front of the vest, on top of the provincial licence number.
  • Prize money not collected from the organiser within 30 days will be forfeited.
  • No roller blades, skate boards or cyclists allowed on the route.
  • ONLY FREE ENTRY for GREAT GRANDMASTERS & BLIND RUNNERS - temporary licence fee still applies.
  • Athletes are not allowed to participate with pets.
  • Entry fee is non-refundable.
  • 21.1km is a double lapper.
  • All entrants participate at their own risk.
  • Athletes must comply with ASA domicile rule.
  • All traffic officers & officials instructions are to be obeyed at all times.
  • Athletes are only eligible for prizes in the race they are registered for.
  • Licenced athletes not wearing club colours may face disqualification.
  • Objections to be lodged in writing within 30 minutes before or after prize giving, accompanied by R300 (refundable if appeal is upheld)
  • The organisers reserve the right to accept or reject an entry.
  • No musical earpieces allowed.
  • Wheelchairs are permitted - T&C's apply. Please contact the Race Director.
  • A tog bag area is provided. While care is taken with stored items, Birchwood will not be responsible for the loss or damage to property.
  • Athletes indemnify the national, provincial & regional bodies, sponsors and organisers of the race against any or all action of whatsover nature, whatever the same may arise out of their participation in the race.
  • International athletes must provide a clearance letter from their country of origin in the event of them winning a prize.
Timing
  • Entrants are required to wear a ChampionChip® to be eligible for a results. No manual insertion of results will be accommodated and no results will be amended for failure to comply with such rule. The No Chip, No Result rule will be strictly enforced. To ensure that you are accurately recorded in the Race Results it is important that you are in possession of your ChampionChip® that is correctly registered in your name. If you do not currently have a ChampionChip® or want to verify that it is correctly registered, this can be done on the Internet at www.championchip.co.za or by contacting ChampionChip® Africa on 0861 100 963. Your ChampionChip® code must be entered on this entry form. Your ChampionChip® MUST be correctly attached to your shoe laces. For correct attachment instructions please visit www.championchip.co.za. No corrections or manual updates will be done due to incorrect use of the ChampionChip® or not abiding by the race rules. ChampionChips® will be on sale at the entry venues as well as at the race. Once you have entered no changes can be made to your distance & no refunds will be allowed.
